Over three months, ARM entered Ali Meats – a USDA-certified animal slaughterhouse, and revealed egregious animal cruelty crimes, illegal slaughter procedures, and extreme government oversight from the USDA and FSIS (Food Safety Inspection Services).
Animals, including goats, sheep, and cattle, are contained onsite and are advertised as ‘halal’ animals sold and butchered as free-range, hormone-free, and farm fresh.
Ali meats hosts a website with information on its services, www.alihalalmeats.com.
The footage obtained by undercover investigators has never been captured on film to this degree before.
- Animals are not stunned by an appropriate device or rendered unconscious and insensible to pain, prior to the slaughter process, per the Humane Slaughter ACT.
- Animals are inhumanely handled, dragged and subjected to excessive force.
- Animals are slaughtered with improper techniques, causing unconscionable pain and suffering.
- Goats and Sheep have their throats slit with knives, slicing multiple times while the animal is alive and conscious, cutting through the animal’s windpipe.
- Animals live in overcrowded conditions with multiple species in the same area.
- False advertising/misleading to the public.
- Meats sold without a known destination for resale in the Greater Orlando area violate the USDA/FSIS regulations for custom-exempt slaughterhouses.
During ARM’s investigation of Ali Meats, shocking footage was captured of mass slaughtering. Goats are inhumanely butchered by having their throats slashed open and thrown on top of piles of animals still alive, thrashing in pain and suffering. Aside from the disturbing incident, this is in gross violation of the USDA guidelines of the Humane Slaughter ACT of the United States.
At the completion of this investigation, ARM documented 41 felony acts of animal cruelty resulting in death and the illegal sale of unadulterated meat to consumers.
A detailed report of ARM’s findings was submitted to the Orange County Sherriff’s Office, Orange County State Attorney’s Office, and the USDA on August 4th, 2022.
