Stop Nepal’s Deopokhari Animal Sacrifice Festival
A baby goat will be dragged into a pond, violently fought over and killed in the name of tradition.
Help ARM stop it.
Every year during the Deopokhari festival in Khokana, Nepal, a young female goat is thrown into a pond, where groups of young men violently grab, pull and wrestle over her terrified body.
As she fights to escape, she is repeatedly punched, pulled, and plunged underwater, struggling for air amid the chaos. The ordeal ends with her death—her fear and suffering turned into a public spectacle before a watching crowd.
THIS VIOLENCE MUST END.
Animal Recovery Mission is calling on Nepal’s Minister of Home Affairs to end the Deopokhari animal sacrifice and take action to stop the killing of animals in the name of sacrifice.
Another innocent being should not have to struggle for her life while a crowd watches. She should not have to fight for her last breath. She should not have to die.
The countdown has already begun. The sacrifice takes place on August 30th. We don’t have much time left.
