University Participation
Since 2012 ARM has participated on several University panels and lectures located in the state of Florida. ARM’s founder, Richard ‘Kudo’ Couto, has been invited as a panelist on FIU’s Student Animal Legal Defense Fund’s animal rights panel two years running and will return next year also. Current and past students at Florida International University (FIU), University of Miami (UM) and the Florida State University (FIU) often reference ARM’s investigations in their studies.
Following ARM’s participation at these events, the students often pursue interests of volunteering with the organization and have participated during large scale raids and animal rescues. ARM has also organized site visits at it’s animal rehabilitation location and training facility. Here the students are briefed and included in some of the organization’s open and past investigation’s.
Veterinarian students and interns serve, on a regular basis, as valuable resources during large scale raids where they are teamed up with ARM leading veterinarian’s. They are also included in volunteer programs with studying and treating some of the sickest and most diseased animals that ARM seizes during the animal rescues. Here they gain hands on experience of some of the most dire cases of animal abuse and illnesses.
In the future, and once ARM secures sufficient funding for its own sanctuary, educational programs and internships will be heavily implemented. Educating and encouraging the younger generations are key to the future welfare of animals.
Students of Law and Vetinary medicine are encouraged to contact ARM to participate in the organization’s programs and rescues. ARM also encourages all students to contact us on how you can be a part of ARM’s mission.
